1961919 Capacitor vs 1964086 Capacitor

Hi Everyone,
My question has to do with the Capacitor that is fastened to the Voltage Regulator. I have a 1961919 mounted to the regulator , but the JG states that the correct capacitor part number is 1964086. This is for a 1968 June 26 built convertable L-79 (327-350HP) HT code , 4 speed,Sp cam, Q-jet. So can someone tell me what the 1961919 is from? Thanks in Advance.

1964086, 1961919, 1960238, 1960957 all have the 5MF. I seem to find the 086 and the 919 used haphazardly and frequently though the years for the same applications. There didn't seem to be a pattern - same date V-Regulators had 086 or 919 for the same applications. Not sure why. I believe either is correct.
957 seems to be earlier, - 238 not sure where I found that one?.

Thanks Jeff for the information on these Capacitors,i did alittle research in the archives section and found some resources that refer back to the Assembly Manual for 68 corvettes that shows the correct part being 1964086 only. I would think maybe for other GM cars of this year that that 1961919 would be correct but not corvette.

Assembly manual is not always the final say. There is a a lot of wrong information in those things..
