    Trim Paint - Current Consensus

Getting ready to repaint various steering column parts. What is the current consensus on the best (closest match) paint to use? The archives is a split decision.

    Krylon 1613
    SEM 39143

    Or?

    Thanks in advance
    Rob

Rob, dash and interior the Sems is perfect. Krylon still good for the chassis stuff.

I understand Krylon 1613 is no longer available.

You can still get Krylon 1613 from paint companies that carry the industrial Krylon. It says Krylon Industrial right on the can. You may have to order 6 cans at a time though.

              Rob,

Sem 39143, the only way to go on black interior parts, just the right sheen. Also good on exterior 67 rocker mouldings.

The new Krylon 1613 is different from the old, a little too glossy for me.

You can get the Sem 39143 at NAPA in CA, on the shelf most of the time in Sonora.

From what I saw on their web site this is not the same Krylon. It shows the number 51613 which is more of a satin than 1613's semi-flat black.

SEM is expensive, but the price of quality is soon forgotten. We use a lot of SEM products here, the best out there

The Krylon #1613 comes in a 12.0 oz. spray-can and the SEM #39143 comes in a 15.5 oz. spray-can. That could be the difference in price. Both are good products.

Agree on the SEM also, however I prefer the finish of 39103

                          Mike,

Here is a link to the correct 1613. I bought some recently.
