    1960 Road Draft Tube Removal

    I discovered after removing half the ignition shielding and everything holding the tube in place that it was impossible to remove it; either from the top or the bottom. Powerglide dipstick tube prevented it from rotating enough to clear the frame. It looks like I would need to remove the starter/solenoid and the PG dipstick tube to pull it out from the bottom.

    Any suggestions?

    What is holding it from coming out the top? Couldn't deduce that from your post.

      When I tried to remove it from the top, the arcuate shape of the tube would not allow it to come out the top. The bends prevent it from clearing the side of the engine block so that it can come out the top. If I removed the distributor and coil, it might come out the top. For the 2 NCRS points I was chasing, it is not worth the trouble to remove and replace it. I spent 3 hours on this task and my only accomplishment was polishing both sides of the vertical ignition shielding and you can't see the back side anyway!

        I guess I'd assumed that pulling the distributor would be an easy starting point before I tried the removal from the bottom.
