Judging question - C4 Battery and Oil Filter

In my last chapter event I lost 41 points for a Diehard battery and K&N oilf filter - full loss of both originality and condition points for both. My question is how would I be scored if I replace the battery with a Delco series 75 battery and appropriate Delco oil filter? Seems like that would be a relatively inexpensive way to pick up many of the 41 points. Comments from our C4 judges please.

I was surprised and delighted to see that the original date coded air filter was in the car. It is now on the shelf and will be pulled out for judging meets.

You would lose 50% originality points, but could get 100% condition points

        James,

Battery is standard deduction of 50% on originality and you should get all the condition points if battery is in good shape - need to remember to remove the carry strap! - oil filter originality needs to be viewed looking at the FIVE areas CDCIF, with maximum deduction of 90% for current day GM replacement oil filter, and yo should get all the condition points if oil filter is in good shape

James, here is a photo of an original Black PF51 Oil Filter that was taken off a 1995 that had a build date of November 1994. This is what I was told from the individual that I purchased it from a number of years ago. He took it off his 1995 when the oil was changed for the first time.

All replacements to the original Black PF51's were Blue from the dealer inventory.

My Corvette was made the second day of production in August 1994 and this Black Oil Filter came off a November 1994 Corvette.

I have had my 1995 Corvette Flight Judged a Chapter and Regional Meet with no deductions after a discussion with the on site NCRS Judges and providing them with the information that I had obtained.

There is some discussion on the correct change over date as to when the oil filter type change was made in 1995 to the Blue PF52.

The owner's manual for 1995 calls for a PF52. Don Griffin has provided a history of this situation concerning the two Oil Filters utilized in 1995.

I have corresponded with a number of individuals to verify that the early 1995's had the Black PF51. I have the correspondence some place in my stuff. Send me an email to fulassoc@comcast.net and I will send you all the information that I have on this subject. This has been discussed also with the appropriate NCRS Judges and the National Team Leader has been advised of all the information available on this subject.
