1961 seat belt buckle

I have purchased a set of 'correct' seat belts for my '61 made in early November of 1960. Judging manual says the female buckle release casting is painted color matching. Is the entire casting to be removed and painted, or just the visible top surface? And....will there be much of a point deduct if I don't paint them? Manual says the late models
had the chromed surface like the ones I have purchased.

Om my early 62 #0029 only the top of the release is painted.

My original seat belt buckles on my November 1960 built '61 had the faces only painted.

I think the manual is talking about the stamped steel portion being chromed, not the flipper. Only the flipper portion is cast, and is painted only early cars, unpainted on a majority of 62's.
