    66 Dash Pad Repair

During a heater core replacement on my 66 driver, the person doing the work took a half dollar size chunk out of the dash pad while removing the glove box. He has been looking for some sort of repair kit without much success. The damage is on the bottom of the area at the front edge. It is black. The result doesn't have to be perfect, but looking for something a step above duct tape.

    Any ideas?

Rich, Mar-Hyde makes a vinyl repair kit. The kit includes directions, graining paper, and patching compound. It's a easy process for what you have to do.

I would find someone who does vinyl repair. They can do a nice job and it shouldn't be more than $75-$100

Thanks. I looked at the Mar Hyde site quickly but did not see that product. I'll look closer, unless you have a direct link to it.

Rich, I do not have a direct link to the product. The part number for the patching compund is #2803. The patching compound came in a kit with directions and graining paper from Mar-Hyde.

Thanks. It appears to be discontinued. I think my guy found this early on and thought it would be perfect, but then couldn't find it. All the sites I go to say it is obsolete or can't be purchased. It must have some chemical in it that hurts baby seals or something like that.

No, unfortunately. I found that there used to be stuff made by the same company that makes Bondo, but it has been discontinued. So, I still have a chunk missing and the guy who did it promises to fix it, he just doesn't know how or when.

Go to eastwood.com. They sell vinyl repair kits.

Thanks. Just looked at the site. I'll order the one with the foam and see how it works
