paint lines for 67 glove box door

Hi,
I am in the process of replacing the aluminum insert on my 67 glove box door. I am using Jerry's method of sliding the new insert in from the front instead of drilling out the rivets. The question I had has to do with the paint lines on the back of the door. Is the entire back painted? For some reason I was thinking I had to tape off around the 2 catches. I have misplaced Jerry's article in the 2007 Restorer. Thanks, Shooter

The entire back is painted except for the edge of the chrome trim, and the lever hold (catches) or whatever they call them. You could also mast the tire decal if it is the original. The repro decals really suck.

Here's my masting setup- see the photo. I used Sems Trim black. The levers should not have any paint on them. Rub it off at the connection to the door.

Thanks Jerry, I am heading for the shop later today to do the painting. Hopefully I will find your article over there...................I kind of "remember" taking it over so I would know where it was at when I got around to replacing the insert..................BUT of course I forgot about it.
