??Gillette Executive on a 67 Ralley wheel???

I just found a mint Gillette Executive "Low Profile" 7.75 x 15 mounted on a very clean 67 DC Ralley wheel. Anyone know what that Gillette Executive tire was originally used on.

The only thing I can think of is that it was an upgrade done by the dealer as a way to make a few more $$ on the sale of the car. Possibly the 2nd set of tires installed on this car.

    Thanks, Joe

Joe, Google US Rubber co., Gillette tire co. was brought out by Them, they did sell tires to some manufacturers.

U.s. Royal tires were used on some PRODUCTION cars. However, I highly doubt that Gillette-branded tires were ever used on a PRODUCTION vehicle.

I remember the '67 L79 Coupe I took delivery of in June of 1967 had U.S. Royal tires on it (blackwalls). The reason I remember is that I almost immediately sold them to my wife's "uncle Louie" (who put them on his pickup truck) and he bitched because the were not Goodyears. (I got $50.00 for 5 U.S. Royal Laredo take-offs with less than 100 miles on them; how I'd like to find a deal like that today). I replaced them with a set of tires from Gamble-Skogmo (where I worked at the time; Don Skogmo the son of one of the founders was a sports car racer back then). I think two were 9:15X15's and the other were 7:75x15 with dual white stripes. The rear tires would not fit under the rear fenders. A friend and I finally cut two pieces of 1/2" water pipe (about two inches long) and put them between the bottom of the leaf spring ends and the bolts. Way jacked up in the back, but it hardly ever bottomed out. The first time I tried a full throttle burnout with this set-up (3:70 gears), all I could smell was clutch for the next couple of days.

Sorry for rambling on about this, but the mention of U.S. Royal tires brought memories flooding back after 45 years.

I love Uniroyal tires because nobody is reppoping them. When you see them, you know they are real.

Here's a set of Loredo's I just put on this car and they look great!

And here is one of the Tiger Paws for my 69.
