    Access times

Anyone have a spotty problem accessing different threads from time to time as I do? It doesn't seem to matter if I'm in a 4G or 3G area. I just have to click on another thread and come back to the "one" I wanted to view at a later date. Sometimes, I also get a NCRS not responding notice especially when trying to post a response to a thread or start a new thread. Brand new computer. Just wondering??

    Al,

At times it appears access and load times have increased significantly since the "episode" - am thinking DBMS is still struggling to restore itself

      Re: Access times

I haven't had any issues until tonight - response times were great this afternoon, and tonight the board is slower than molasses (other sites are fine). I'm on cable, not an air card (Windows 7, IE9).

John, it's been an on-going thing for me. I live out in the country in no-man's land--no cable. I thought when I upgraded to an "air card", as you put it, and a new laptop, that my troubles would be over, but alas, not so. However, it is tremendously improved. I'm in TN tonight with 4G service and it's slow too. Oh well, hoping someone might have a magic solution to the problem, but I'm out of luck. Thanks all.

Starting Monday about 9AM - John is re-indexing the 2006 & 2007 Archive Forum posts database. Archives Forum index problem was identified by Norm Bishop. This will have some impact on server response intermittently.

Update - Tuesday morning the re-indexing was completed of 250,000 threads for 2006 & 2007 per John.

But remember guys there are a multiple of components that are included from your PC to a website. And they all have impact on server page presentation times.

My connection has 11 hops before it gets to the NCRS web server and response is fairly good with a 35 meg cable Internet connection.

p.s. having a clean Windows PC can make a lot of difference to browsing speed

Antivirus software by itself is not enough protection. In addition it's best to check and clean your PC with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. CCleaner will clear out browsing history. These programs are free and can be safely downloaded from the links below.
