1965 VIN tag rivets

I'm looking at a 65 roadster to match my coupe. The uncertainty of when the change over to rosette rivets got me to do some research. Common belief is early in the 65 model year (Nov. - Dec.) but this one was built approx. Feb 18th and has one of each. It is an unmolested, very original car. I just thought some would find it interesting.

I don't think this is uncommon. I would think that when the new rivits came in they were dumped on top of the old ones & maybe they got to the bottom of the bin & got a round one.

I have lots of pictures of 65 trim tags on cars.
All have round up to vin 8200ish
Mix of round or rosette between 8200ish and vin 11600ish
All rosette after 11600ish
Two had one of each, vin's 988X and 1084X

There are many guys and gals on this site with a ton of knowledge about the tags, but one thing in your pic that cause me say "i'd like another couple of pics of that tag" was the apparent difference in the size and font of the 6 and the 7 in that vin tag. It could possibly be the angle the picture was taken, but I would want another look at the tag just to make sure....gotta be smart with your money...Good luck with your search....Regards....ARA
