Are 1953 Corvette wheels the same as 1949-1953 Chevrolet Passenger Wheels?
I just found a nice set of 4 original riveted 1952 Kelsey-Hayes 15 X5 K wheels with original paint and circular stripe (and only surface rust on the back side) dated "12 61" and "10 61" at a swap meet yesterday. According to my research the GM part number is 3687980. These wheels have the hub cap clips riveted on to the wheel.
My wheel research also indicates that 1954-1956 Chev. Pass. and Corvette wheels supplied by Chevrolet were GM # 3714744 and wheels for these vehicles supplied by Kelsey-Hayes were GM # 3723561.
Are the 1954-1956 3723561 wheels the same as the 1949-1953 3687980 wheels except for the hub cap clips, and if not, what is the difference?
