I'm getting ready to replace the oil pan gasket on my 63 coupe which currently the pan mounting bolt heads and washers are painted orange. However, from what I can find in the NCRS 63-64 Corvette Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide does not discuss whether or not the bolts are painted nor does it mention specific head markings. Does anyone know of the requirements? Is this discussed somewhere in the manual and I was just unable to find it? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The oil pan retaining bolts were painted with the engine assembly. However, paint coverage of these bolts is sometimes "spotty".
"E", "L", or "EL" are common headmarkings of the period for these bolts. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
