I am told that some 1984 Corvettes left the factory with a decal about the size of and orange which had the Motor Trend logo and the words "Motor Trend car of the year". Anyone have information on this decal and have they been reproduced?

Re: 84 car of the year decals
Walt, I hope this helps. I was the original owner of a June 1984 Corvette that I ordered. The decal was in with my owners manual. I think any earlier cars the Chevrolet Dealer might have took the liberty of applylng the decal to the rear hatch window. I also ordered 4 Motor Trend Car of the Year decals from my Chevrolet dealer. (I thought they were cool) It had a GM part number. I sold all 4 decals on ebay 6 years ago.- Top

Re: 84 car of the year decals
I took delivery of my '84 on May 11, 1983. (#4935) The COTY was announced in 1984 and I received a letter dated May 16, 1984 from Dave McLellan informing me as an '84 owner of the award along with the COTY decal for my installation. Along with the decal there was a template for position and a blue plastic squeege-I still have all these items-figured they may be conversation pieces someday. If there is interest I'll post some pictures.- Top

Re: 84 car of the year decals
I looked at some old pictures I had of the first three 1984 Corvettes that Hallman Chevrolet here in Rochester got in April of 1983. I was invited down to look at them in a warehouse (hidden). No Corvettes had them on the rear hatchback. Dealer, or owner had to put them on.Attached Files- Top
