Agree with John - two were not related - if they were then it sounds like your AV was the cause of your hard drive failure - maybe you had a virus and didn't know it!?

Possible, but, the only web site I visited on Thurs, was this one and that was when my crashing started. Also, I only open known e-mails and visit very few other sites that have never posed a problem either. But again, who knows what evil lurks out there. The main thing is I'm up and running again. Thanks guys!!

Al,

Antivirus software by itself is not enough protection. In addition it's best to check and clean your PC with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. CCleaner will clear out browsing history. These programs are free and can be safely downloaded from the links below.
