Re: wiper blades
Morris,
Welcome to the TDB
Don't confuse wiper arms with wiper blades.
Re wiper BLADE holders..the judging manual states "The wiper holder is brushed stainless steel" further discussion re TRICO or ANCO styles. No discussion re chrome
Re Wiper ARMS...the judging manual states " Most 1966 wiper ARM assemblies have a brushed finish on the main body. Early cars may have a bright finish ARM assembly like those used on 65."

Re: wiper blades
Good morning randy: Are you saying that all the blades holders were brushed stainless steel? The only difference was some early model arms had the bright finish and the others had the brushed. Here's my problem, my car was built on sept 21,1965 number 1,326. Would i fall into the early production with the bright arm or the brushed ? So i'm correct by thinking that all blades were brushed for 66 no matter what date of built, and the question would become what arm for my date is correct? Without having a specific date or production number it's anyones guess what is the correct style. I would think, what's you feeling?- Top

Re: wiper blades
Sometimes the Judging Guide books use the terms 'early' and 'late' without any reference to VIN on purpose. Why? Well, there are situations where we simply don't know.
Consider your case. 1966 production started in September and your car's a September build. What are the odds that ALL of the wiper parts (arms and blade assemblies) used in 1965 were purged from inventory when your car ran down the line?
Yep, you can't answer that one, can you? I'll bet there isn't a single NCRS/NCCB judge out there who can answer the question with 100% confidence either. Does that help you with your decision?- Top

Re: wiper blades
Morris,
Yes, judging by the language of the judging guide all 1966 blade holders are brushed finish and early production arms are chrome. Sept 65 is certainly early production.
Another reference source, The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide Vol 2 by Noland Adams says the wiper ARMS changed from bright to dull finish approximately March 1966 at serial number 118000
Re blade holders if they say "Trico" on them they are original and "Trico Made in USA" are judged to be service replacements.
I am not a NCRS judge.
My Feb 8 production 1966 convertible has brushed Trico holders and chrome arms but has never been judged.
