i picked up a black cap with aluminum inserts from a swap meet and the top reads "delco-remy patent 2769047. Any idea what engine and years this cap was used ? This cap was factory installed or was it sold as a service part ? I'm looking for the cap that was used on 1968
shp l-79 327/350 hp june build date.

Thanks Dick ; my JG says "PATENT 2769047 R" I go to the archives and there's alot of information. Looks like the JG is wrong, or i'm looking in the wrong section.

What year car? Patent pending was good for all midyears, Patent Pending R for sharks, I don't really rember the patent number items showing up until well after the end of the OEM application period. Last shark I had new was a '74

            Jeff,

You better check the Edition and printing date of your judging guide. From your quote it is an out of date version.
