    1967 Armstrong Corvette

I know there has been a lot of discussion about the value of this car. But I haven't seen much about weather or not it is in fact the car that the Astronaut Neil Armstrong drove? We all know that a real good reproduction of a protect-o-plate can be made. Granted it would be a huge lawsuit if that would have been done. I have heard rumors that a video exists of the Astronauts driving up to the space center in there Corvettes and it shows Armstrong getting out of one, has anyone seen this video? Am I missing something, is it just understood that it was his car for a year? Does anyone know this for sure? With the program that Rathman Chevy had for these Astronauts I would assume that their names where not on the original ownership paperwork? Just protect-o-plate? Any thoughts or additional info?

    Thanks

    Jeremy,

The video or actual film you are looking for was done by a German film crew in 1965. It was taken in Houston and shows the astronauts, including Armstrong arriving at the Johnson Space Center in their corvettes. I have done years of research on the lease program, and if you wil send a PM I will be glad to feel you in. The website you are searching for is as follows. Google "American astronauts British Pathe" you should see a photo of Gordon Cooper in his silver space suit, that is the correct film. It is done in German, but has some parts narrated by an American guide. Hope this helps and I look forward to hearing from you.

Seller says he has the original POP with Armstrong name on it & bidders have it bid to 250,000 so either it's shill bidding or more than one person thinks it's his Corvette.

At least some of the bids are real and are from people I know that bid in excess of 200K. Including a customer of mine that may buy this and have me restore it. I just don't want him to get screwed with the history of the car, reguardless of what he has in it.

            Jeremy,

hence my question - has your customer seen the "so-called documentation?" have you seen it? alot of money being paid for VERY QUESTIONABLE provenance!

$2000 deposit and then go get car and pay on site after looking at car and paperwork.

Do you you know something about the car? From your questions it seems like you have your doubts. There would be one hell of a lawsuit for that much money if it was a bogus Corvette.

Don't know a dman thing about the car - just skeptical that NO DOCUMENTATION has been proferred outside of the fact that you are bidding on heresay more or less; then if you are the winning bidder, you make $2000 deposit and then you get to see documentation of whatever the seller claims to have in their possession - why isn't "provenance" established in the sale by showing the documentation, if the seller is so sure of what they have!?

I don't know anything about the car. Just would hate for it to be Neil Armstrong the dentist from Florida and not the astronaut.

...so maybe ask Neil Armstrong, the dentist in Florida, if he owned it.
If he says no, it might then be Neil the astronaut.

Or better yet, contact the Neil Armstrong.
A co-worker of mine (now since retired) used to share an office space with him in Ohio.
He used it to answer letters sent to him.
Most were forwarded by NAS to him.

Amazing how many he would get every day all these years since that flight.

So is the $2000 deposit refundable if the paperwork is BS?
