I entered my Chapter Top Flight '65 Sting Ray in the 17th Annual "Keels & Wheels Concours D'Elegance" (for both vintage wooden boats & vintage autos) that was held at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, TX (just south of Houston) this past weekend. On Saturday morning, as I had just removed the car cover, Dennis Gage, the host of Speed Channel's "My Classic Car" came walking by. He pointed to my car, said "Nice car", and kept on walking with his camera man. I ran after him hoping to get a photo of him with my car in the distant background. He was kind enough to walk back to my car and pose. Here is the shot of him standing next to my car.
I was told that he holds a PhD in biochemistry and developed Pringles potato chips when he worked for the company that sells them. It's his mustache that is on the Pringles cans. Today, during the awards ceremony, Dennis Gage was introduced by the MC, Keith Martin (publisher of Sports Car Market Magazine). When Mr. Martin retold the Gage/Pringles story and of Gage's educational background, "Dr." Gage told us that he is the most overeducated TV show host!
BTW, my car took "Best in Class ('63-'67 Sting Rays). The most interesting Corvette at "Keels & Wheels" was a yellow '55 with a green vinyl top and the ultra rare (for '55) 3 speed manual transmission.
