I've got the front of my car apart and want to test the rates of my springs to make sure they are winthin spec. The reason is the car didn't sit even from left to right, was too low and had 1/2" shims under each of them. I have access to a spring tester but I'm not sure what numbers I should be getting.
I've attached a chart (Below) taken from a document availible at the GM Heritige center. It provides the specs for the springs. The tags on my springs are marked "HV", correct for my application, and they stand about 15" tall out of the car. Before I go to the tester I've got a couole of questions.
Spring chart.doc
What is meant by "Free Height".
Also, does "Working height" mean the height of the spring installed with the car on the ground and loaded? I'm assuming that it should take, in the case of my springs, 1620 lbs. to compress the spring to 9.99"
As always, thanks for the help!!!!
