58 to 62 Fender Crown Moldings

I'm looking for member input on the quality and fit of the reproduction fender crown moldings for the 58 through 62 C-1 cars. Restoration of original parts is expensive with results not always acceptable and NOS pieces scarce and pricey. Do the repo's fit and judge well? Thanks Rich

      John,
Yes I saw them. They needed polishing before installation too. Amazing

NOS Versions often have broken studs. See other discussions about "silver solder" and other attempts to reinstall the studs. Out of four I have seen this year, all had at least one stud missing.

I have not seen the repros.

I have had bad luck with the repos as the studs tend to break on them also, it's no big deal to weld them up, just another pain, the fit is ok and the price certainly beats nos

My experience is that originals are more "ice blue", repros more yellowish. Like the similar issue with c1 hubcaps.

The color is due to the grade of stainless used to make them Mike. Austenitic stainless alloys have a yellowish hue to them while the ferritic alloys are more of a bluish hue.
