Door Lock Mechanism Screws

I am installing the door lock mechanisms on my 1965 FI convertible. Should the screws that hold the mechanism in the door be painted the car color? And should there be some overspray?
I am not sure whether the mechanism was in place during the painting process or installed after.

Jack..On a 67 and I'm sure on a 65 the latches were installed before paint. A paint mask was used to cover the latch and a small amount of body color would be on the latch. The screws would have body color on them..Bill

The lock mechanism was installed in the door in the Body Shop; the attaching screws should be body color.
