Re: Houston, we have a problem
I'm with you. I can't see any reason that car is worth over 40 or 50K.
The "restored survivor classification is interesting too. It's kinda' like the A/FX Falcon in this month's Muscle Car Review. I bought a 63 427 Galaxie from the same guy who previously owned the Falcon and it was offered also. The only problem was it had been stored in a trailer over an old manure field for about 20 years and the fumes had rusted it to nothing. The guy was selling the fiberglass front fenders and hood, original Hilburn injector and some other incidentals along with a Falcon hull that he had already started the re body with. The original roof and cowl were laying outside in the weeds upside down, with no quarters or floor and he said that was all that was left of the original body. The article states that anybody can restore an old barn find but the owner chose to keep this one "unmolested and original". That car is about as unmolested and original as the girl in college that dated every one of the football team. They went to great pains to make the paint and lettering look old, even though they admit that the lettering was carefully repainted. It'll be interesting to see it on BJ or Mecuum. I wrote the magazine a letter detailing my firsthand experience with the seller and inspection of what was left of the car. It'll be interesting to see if they publish it in their letters column. So far they have not responded and it's been a couple of weeks. Lotsa' *****s in this hobby of ours nowdays. Edit: Man the filters bleep hors out if you spell it right. I meant it in the most respectable way possible.
