    Corvette Gassers

Check out the following link to The HAMB website.
Lots of pictures of Corvette drag cars.
Also interesting is the guy looking for info on a 54 Corvette funny car, maybe someone knows the car.

      Re: Corvette Gassers

Thanks for sharing Bruce. My 57 is on pg. 17 with a before and after shot.
It was good to see you at the LandSpeed event at Wilmington Ohio last weekend. it was a
nice turnout considering the weather. we managed a 186 Mph run on Sunday afternoon.
I think that we can do a 200, but we need to do some tweaking. Not too bad for an old C1.

        Dave,
It was also nice talking with you and Mike at Wilmington.
Hopefully the weather will be better in June.
Sounds like you are well on your way to 200 MPH.
I went and looked at a 57 Corvette today. It was set up as a gasser, Olds 5.13 rear, front tube axle, stroker motor and lots more stuff.
Unfortunately it has no history (never got finished) and has been sitting in good storage since 1969.
Very tempting, and I will make an offer tomorrow.
More junk to work on, but lots of fun...

Bruce, the '57 gasser didn't happen to be in the Bryan, OH area, yellow paint, black interior???

            Steve,

No, the car has been in Dayton, Oh. since 1966 but it never got on the track.
It would be a nice project but the owner is asking a big price, but time will tell.

                Dave,

                Sorry, no pictures.
The car is burried in a garage and all you would see is a stripped body.

I will probably go back tomorrow and get some pictures.

The current World's Fastest Corvette is for sale for what I think is a reasonable price. I posted pictures of it November 18th 2011.

                    John,

The Nov. 2011 pictures are great.

With the first successful (other then weather) LSR run at the Wilmington Mile I anticipate a number of Ohio guys getting in on the action. I know of one group in Dayton, Oh who are building a belly tank car.
Unfortunately for us older Corvette guys (thats older Corvettes and older guys) the rules are pretty tough to even run a C1 car up to the 135 MPH bracket. To me the roll bar requirement makes it tough on my car, but in the name of safety the rules come first.

I wonder how many of those vettes were put back and on the NCRS flight judging row.

John, Apparently the C4 wasn't fast enough and Bobby is moving on to a quicker ride.
