Are Air Jet General 6.70 x 15 tires correct for an early 62?

General"Jet Air" are period correct.
Also Goodyear "Custom Super Cushion", Firestone "Deluxe Champion", U.S. Royal "Air Ride", Goodrich 'Silver Cushion".
The DOT designation should not be on the sidewall.

What year did they start placing the DOT on the side wall? Is it on the front or back?

I believe it started in 1968 and is on both sides of the tire. Tire experts may chime in.

Not sure of the year, but it is possible to sand and buff the DOT off the sidewalls.
