    Balancing aftermarket wheels

Are standard lead clip-on weights customarily used on shiny aftermarket rims (Torq Thrust, etc) or is there a cosmetic alternative?

Steve, the best weights to use for this type of wheel is the weights that stick on. Of course have a clean surface before adhering the stick-on weights. The clip-on weights are OK but if the wheels have to be rebalanced the clip-ons will leave a mark on the rim.

Do the adhesive weights have the same lead-gray appearance as the others?

Steve, I have seen the stick-on weights in the lead gray you are asking about. I have also seen them in a brighter silver almost chrome in color.

If the "stick on weights" are placed inside the rim, watch out when a tire change is done. They can be ripped off by pulling the wheel over the edge of the disk brake, or by other interference when the wheel is removed, or when re-installed.
