1967 dimmer switch

My dimmer switch just quit working. I have high beams on both sets but no lights on dims. The switch on the dash turnes the lights on & the Interior & dash lights so I don't think that is the problem. I tried to rapiedly push the switch to see if it would work but no luck. Are there any other options except pull the carpet & replace the switch ?

Two screws and one electrical connection, how hard can it be?

Of course, if the screws REFUSE to come out, that is a different story, don't ask me how I know.

Thanks for your response! I was hoping to save my original one & thought there might be a trick to get the old one working. I have restored many C-2"s & I do know how to take it out & replace it. Guess I will try the CF to see if others had a fix. Thanks for nothing.

Ken,

How about soaking the switch in some sort of contact cleaner to see if the contact gets better. I think when these electrical things don't get used often the humidity gets the best of the contacts.

I looked at the repos & they are not like the originals. I agree with you & I will pull the carpet up & take the switch out.

These switches can be "opened up" and, in many cases, repaired. They were never designed to be repaired and no internal parts were ever available but it can be done. If any parts are needed, use another switch as a donor.
