'57 Seat Frames

Were there "slots" cut into top cross member of the seat back on the seat frames on '57's (or for any C1 for that matter.....)? A previous owner has cut two slots in the top cross member on both my seat backs where the two hooks for the seat back cushion attach..... while it allows a better/more solid attachment of the seat back, it also allows the seat back to drop lower on the seat frame. This results in an unacceptable "gap" between the top of the seat back and the rear deck lid.....

I haven't seen un-touched, original C1 seat frames so I'm not sure if these "slots" were there originally or only enlarged on my seat frames.....

My 56 seat frames do not have the slot.

No slots cut in my 57 (May 57 build). There are not too many things "original" on my car, but I think the seats are. The cushions still had the McInerney Spring and Wire cloth tags on them. Dated 8/55 and 10/55. That seams a little too old, but they could have batch run a whole bunch of them. Can post photos if you want.

If your slots were made by a previous owner, one can usually tell by the quality of the cuts if they were factory made, or novice made. -Dan-
