I knew someday I'd be re-sealing the firewall grommets on my car so when the Spring 2011 issue of the Restorer arrived I knew I should save it, so I did. I'm referring to the article titled"Sealing and Undercoating" written by Duane Ravenburgh.
Has anyone used his method? Was it successful?
I see that it uses asphalt sealant. Will it become soft and run after it's cured and subjected to under hood temps or will it harden and remain that way? Also, is there a substitute for "Wax, grease and silicone remover"? I have none and things would be simpler if I could use laquer thinner or some other solvent that I have availible. Not sure I need any additional hazardous chemicals around. Thanks!!
