67 radio tone control and bezel

The radio tone control I took off my 67 has the number 3830481 cast in the back, the AIM says the number should be 3876498. The radio bezel I have has 3830480 cast in the back, the AIM says the number should be 3876500. The finish on my bezel and tone control looks like dull aluminum. The rest of the bezels for the AC and heater controls look to be chromed. My 67 is an early production(sept 66). I saw in a prior thread that someone posted the part numbers for the tone control and bezel I have and stated that they belong to 63-66. I have also seen where the part numbers on some parts don't always match up with the AIM numbers. I seem to be constantly running into parts on my car from 1966?
What are the correct numbers for the bezel and tone control for my 67. Do the bezel and tone control I have go to 63-66 only or also 67?
What should the finish on the bezel and tone control look like. If I have the wrong ones does anyone know a source for the corrct ones?
As always the learned input of those of you who share your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

    Neal,

GM # 3830480 & 3830481 appear in the 1963, 1964, and 1965 AIM and are listed for 1963-1965 Corvettes as per my 1967 Chev. Radio Catalog (Oct. 1966).
GM # 3876498 & 3876500 appear in the 1966 and 1967 AIM as well as in the same 1967 catalog.

I don't recommend buying reproduction parts but sometimes it's necessary until you can find the ORIGINAL parts. After you find the original part the reproduction part can be trashed.

I believe the source for these bezels is Volunteer Vette in Knoxville, TN. 1 865 521-9100. List price is $15.00 per set.

        Neal,

The finish on GM 3876498 Tone Control Knob and the GM 3876500 spacer behind the station selector knob should both be chrome plated (67JG, p. 37), and both of mine are chrome plated.

          Neal,

The 1966 AIM shows the same GM part numbers for these two items as shown in the 1967 AIM.

The 1965 AIM shows GM 3830481 for the Tone control knob, and GM 3830480 for the Bezel. These parts are described as being aluminum, with a satin finish (65JG, p. 39).

Re: 67 radio tone control and bezel

            Hi All,
It is very clear to me that some how I ended up with a Tone Control Knob and Bezel for 63-65. I have aquired an original Tone control knob for a 66-67 so my search for an original 66-67 bezel continues. If anyone knows a source for an original please let me know.
Thanks again for your replies and guidance.
            Neal
