Go to the web-site of America's Finest Corvettes. You can see what the rear leafs look like ( www.corvetteusa.com ).

      Michael,

Thanks. Going to Spring Carlisle and I'll look around for a used one. CF's spring looks good although a little pricey.

          Harry,

          Many thanks,

Do the Eatong springs have the curled ends like the OEM mid year springs? Will they be at Carlisle this weekend/

          Regards,

Dave, I believe they do but give them a call to be sure.

DAVE, The configuration of the Eaton spring is similar. but not exact as factory, the curls are not quite like the factroy and tapers at the end of spring are not there. It does sit at the correct height. I just installed one on a friends 63.

If you are looking for an exact repro you will be disappointed with every one (including Eaton). If you come to the next Michigan chapter tech session on April 29th you will see a presentation on this very subject- a comparison of an Eaton spring with original by a very knowledgeable individual- me. Well, maybe not so knowledgeable but I did do some in depth comparisons of configuration and ride height. I will be submitting the whole presentation as an article to our Vette Signal and then to the Restorer.

About five years ago I bought a 9 leaf spring for my 63. The metal was just about perfect but the liners needed to be replaced. The 63 9 leaf spring is a 63 only spring. Saying that, I paid $300.00. A somewhat rare item.

                        Jeff,

I enjoyed your article in the Restorer regarding rear springs. Just an FYI - I was able to obtain the original paint that they were painted with from the supplier of the era. It was 200 L weld thru primer from Inoclad.

I cannot believe that the deduction wouod be more than 1 to 2 points for originality.

                            Dave,
I don't know what he deduction is for the configuration of the repro spring but to me That was not the important thing. The ride height issue was what bothered me.
                            Ron,
The articles you referred to are probably the ones written by Gary Beaupre. I have not submitted mine yet.
