    1973 vaccum hose grommet source

    Hello all
    according to the 1973 aim the firewall hole diameter for the 3 hole vaccum hose grommet is 1-5/8"
    I purchased what I thought was going to be the correct diameter from three different vendors
    They all are for an 1-1/4 in diameter. Those grommets just fall through the hole.
    Is there a souce for the larger grommet, and where would the smaller diameter grommet be used?
    Just curious who else has run across this.

    Hi Roger,
    Is this the grommet you're asking about?
    The over-all diameter is 1 1/2" inches.
    I have an extra you may have. I'm not sure here it came from. Maybe Smart Parts at Carlisle.

      It is going to require something around 1 7/8"
      the one you picture and describe as 1 1/2" is the diameter is the same of the three I purchased from other vendors

      I have learned not to throw any thing away on these cars until you know for sure the replacement is going to work

      I will look in my bone pile and hope to find the old one

        Is yours a THREE HOLE grommet? I thought that 1973 and later used a TWO hole grommet. In any event, if it is a three hole grommet then 1973 must have changed from earlier. The earlier grommet, GM #3934269, is 1-1/2" OD as measured at the forward edge of the grommet.

          This has been a ten year basket case body off restoration.

          I do not know what was original, but I will check on the two hole angle.

            It is a two hole grommet
            I found it in a box I set back

              I believe this grommet was supplied to PRODUCTION as part of the vacuum harness assembly. Also, I cannot find where it was ever available in SERVICE separately. So, I have no GM part number for it. I do not know if it's reproduced.
