Original Frames, where to look for stamps on leather upholstery on '71 code 403?

Looks like they are original for the 92k miles on the car, but where are the stamps on the seat covers?

Curious while I was replacing seat back latch buttons.

Hi Mark,
I can only offer a couple of date stamps from my mid- January built 71, with standard, vinyl seats.
There appears to be dates and IDs put on when the material was manufactured, and also an ID and date indicating when the seat cover was sewn.
I'm sorry I can't help with the leather seat cover.

I have seen the kinds of markings Alan shows on vinyl seat material and the vinyl removable hardtop storage bags. I too have no experience removing leather upholstery, so I can not comment on what markings, if any, it has.

I saw the thread and thought I might resurrect and ask if even NOS vinyl seat covers would have the same or similar markings? I may have a chance to pick up a set of NOS comfort weave seat covers but since they have no markings I am thinking they are reproductions from back when the real comfort weave was still available.

Any thoughts?

Actually leather seat covers do have similar markings and dates. However, when I had my 71 covers disassembled some 25 years ago I was not as astute then as I am now, but yes there are markings and dates inside the leather seat covers. If I ever for some reason need to take them off again, I will be sure to record the information as I did on every other component of the car.
