    67 I(gnition Switch

I've cleaned my original switch & removed any residual lubricant . What's recommended as a lubricant or other product for this asembly?

Both GE and Dow Corning market a Silicone Dielectric Compound. GE's number is G-624 and the Dow Corning is 4 compound. Yes, they are Dielectric compounds. This lubs and cuts down on the arc caused by hitting the start terminals. Extends the life of the switch.

      Ralph,

Just to be clear, are you referring to the ignition switch withe spade terminal on the back? Or are you referring to the ignition lock that your key inserts into?

Thanks ! The issue is the lock & key insert.... I assume a little dielectric grease on the plug-in spades would also be in order..?

How do you lube the contacts of an ignition switch ? Just squirt it in the cavity after removing the tumbler/cylinder ? Or is some disassembly required ?

            Ralph,

I like Tri-Flow lubricant, which has PTFE (Teflon) in it. About $6 per 2 oz container, which will last you for years. Gummed up locks, like door locks often get, should be cleaned well before lubricating.
