This is one example of making your car better than when it came out of factory in 1965.

I have used this product in a number of cars that I own and in a number that I have done restorations on. Installing this type of insulation is one of the best things you can do for these old cars. I use Dynamat although there are other alternatives. The best place to buy Dynamat that I have found is at Amazon.com. A box of Dynamat Extreme is 36 Sq Ft. Amazon sells that for $136. I think retail is over $225. Shipping was free (they said it would take 5 to 8 days but the stuff showed up in about 4). It took 2 boxes to do the complete interior of this coupe. I put it inside the doors as well in the roof. The stuff really sticks and once applied would be difficult to get off.

        I have used Dynamat in a few 62's, a 57 and my 65 coupe.
It is the best for both heat and sound control in my opinion.
As Mike mentioned using it in the doors and on the roof in a coupe deadens sound and makes the car feel solid.
Best buy is online usually from the Audio shops.
A good sturdy roller and a heat gun make the installation easier.

Is it possible to install Dynamat in a car without getting clobbered for it at judging time? I love the stuff in my other cars, but would imagine it is frownd upon when being judged.

I don't know exactly what the deduction would be. I plan to drive the car extensively and having the insulation and the advantages that go with that outweighs the deduction. This forum says that the judges normally do spot this.

I would guess that if you install it and it can not be seen you would be ok.
In my old 61-62 Judging Manual it is stated that the carpet is glued in. So if you don't see it around the edges the judges can not pull up the carpet to check for insulation under the carpet.

+1, great experiences with it, and no judge in NCRS or SAAC or Mopar Nationals has seen it or will, no deductions.

I just worry about the long term effects the adhesive might have on the fiberglass. Maybe nothing, and might soften the fiberglass. I guess time will tell.
