    ZO6 sold in Indiana

Interesting auction in Vevay Indiana last weekend.
    1963 ZO6 advertized as a wrecked 63, no mention of ZO6.
    Sold for about $48,000.00
Seems like the auctioneer had no idea of what he was selling.

There are pictures on page 1 and 3 here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...barn-find.html and it is a major project to restore.

If the birdcage is in nice condition and the Z-06 parts are there someone will re-body/replace all damaged panels and frame and that car will be very nice.

That's not to say it's not a huge amount of work but once you see the car with all damaged parts removed opinions will change..

Wonder if there is any history or docs on the car. There could be alot of blanks (and $$$) to fill in. Looks like a small tank from pictures???? What would a restored Z06 bring today? There were less than 200 produced.

With the history, brake parts, the tank, trim and VIN tag alone were well worth the $48k. The tank parts alone are worth over 1/3 of the sale price. Probably more. Admittedly it will cost $175-$200k to restore the car, but the value restored is well above the cost of restoration.

                  Dale,

It is a small tank car.

I understand that there is full documentation from the first owner to present day.

The documents and the parts are probably worth the price, but restoration will double or triple the cost by the time it's over.

Watch for the restored car at Mecum or Pro Team in the future.

Auction was about 60 miles from where I live, never saw any advertising.

You can see by the sales flyer the auctioneer did a poor job of promoting the sale.

Once again, if the car has the docs and the hard to find brake parts it's not really in bad condition. I know of one 63 that looked somewhat similar before restoration. :-)

Did the car have the as born with engine block and did the FI go with the car?

According to the thread shown in post #12, it did not have the original engine, and the FI sold separately for $6K.
