Just getting back to installing the glove box door to the assembly after being sidelined 6 months with broken hip. I have a bar which I think attaches to the bottom hinge and then to the door assembly I THINK. Can anyone supply me with a photo of a 63 assembly? Many thanks in advance. Doug

Re: 1963 Corvette glove box assembly
If it's the round bar that attaches to the hinge assembly, it's really like a torsion spring that helps the door open, then compresses when you close it. It's not easily removable, i.e. part of the hinge IIRC........or is it the "flat" bar support? If it's that one, it attaches to the birdcage Z-bar, and then to the bottom hinge assembly. It's tricky to put together. Best to assemble on the bench with the bottom support loosely attached, then the whole thing into the dash with the special screws to hold the frame in.
I looked but no pics of a '63 in the GB area. Here are a few pics of a '67 GB. The hinge assy, Pt# 3832709(item 5) is in both my 63 and 67 AIMs.- Top

Doug,
I believe you are talking about a reinforcement strip that was added sometime during the production year. It goes on the outside of the glovebox and the holes match with the hinge bolts. Keeps the plastic from cracking.

Ahhh good catch Joe...... I bet that's the bar he's questioning. I forgot about that. I put a repro $$$ glovebox on our 63 and had to get that piece.
