    1965 exhaust manifold washer

Putting all the ignition shielding back on my 65 327/300 HR coded engine after a fresh rebuild I am a little confused about the washer that goes behind the exhaust manifold mounting bolts. I bought a set of "8" washers however my AIM shows what appears to be as follows: 6 on the RH side (all bolts used one), 4 on the LH side with the 2 center bolts not using one. I reference U69 A7/A8. So do I follow the AIM or do I put these washers on all 12 bolts or do I leave washers off the 2 center bolts on each side?

I can only comment on how mine left the factory and that is - the middle bolts have no washers. Mine also has the shielding brackets against the manifold, then the washers and then the french locks. I know this disagrees with what the AIM and some "experts" say BUT that is how mine left the factory and it's staying that way. There are pics. of mine in this thread - https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...933#post564933
