Re: Applying LT-1 decals to hood
Chris,
As Terry indicates below, the middle part of the letters was clear when they were new. The ones in the photo were placed on the hood in 1987, and have darkened since then.
I don't know if it's the adhesive or the poly film that has discolored; but as you can see, there's a noticeable difference.

Re: Applying LT-1 decals to hood
Hi Ken.
I never really thought about that!
I remember that when I bought a new 68 GTO, the GTO logo on rear of the rear quarter panel was a sticker. I'm pretty sure it had still been chrome/paint in 67.
I actually thought it was a pretty cool change at the time.
Did other GM cars start to use some stickers in place of emblems then too?

Sorry Mike, we're kind of off topic.....
Larry - that's very interesting how they discolored with age. I just assumed mine were unique, because I had not seen any others do that. Old pics attached.
I'm about ready to put my new nos decals on too, so the timing of this thread is perfect. Alan, the hood still looks great - thanks again for recommending JohnAttached FilesChris

Re: Applying LT-1 decals to hood
My other 71, a 30k mile car that's spent little time in the sun (a Wiscinsin near the lake car) has the originals on a white hood. They have just a slight tint of yellow to them.Sorry Mike, we're kind of off topic.....
