    6 blade fan #3955182

    Good day all,

I've come across a GM 6 blade a/c fan, part #3955182, 3" bolt pattern. I'm thinking circa '65...'69. Anyone have clarity on application?

    Re: 6 blade fan #3955182

    Is there a blade missing?

The 3955182 7-blade fan, 17 1/2" dia. w/3.00" BC, (Schwitzer part # 914166) was originally installed on 1970 Corvettes 350w/AC and 1969 Corvettes 427 w/AC as per the assembly manuals. I have found no other application EXCEPT in April 1971 the fan was also a SERVICE FAN for 1966-1967 Corvettes w/427 and 1968-1970 Corvettes that originally were issued a 5-blade fan (stamped "66"), GM # 3888366, as per Chevrolet Parts History.

I do not know the meaning of the "96347" number but it MIGHT translate to 1996, 347th day but that's just a guess. The 3955182 fan listed for $39.50 in March 1991 and $115.33 in November 2001. These Schwitzer fans usually had a date code (example: "E70" = May 1970) stamped after the Schwitzer part number, even the fans sold over the counter years later. I would say your fan is a service replacement assuming it has 7 blades. I believe only Buicks "back in the day" used 6-blade fans.

Currently there is a NORS 3955182 fan on Ebay possibly dated the 141st day of 1998 ("98141") for a "bargain" price of $380. I wonder how many decades the current owner will own the fan?

Addendum....ooops, I meant 7 blade. Are these worth anything?

He might not have it too long. These 3955182 fans are in high demand and folks usually pay BIG $$$$ for them. However, this is a USED piece and I think it might be over-priced for used. But, I expect he'll sell it.

I used this fan blade #3955182 for several years on my '65 w L89 installed. It worked very well.

If it was a six blade....VERY RARE. For the L66 engine in 1952.

As stated by me at 2:00 PM today the 3955182 fan was used on the 69 Corvette 427 w/AC and 70 Corvette 350 w/AC. It was sold over the counter from the Fall of 1968 to at least November 2001 (33+ years) and probably much later. I would say that the 3955182 fans dated during the 1969 and 1970 production would have some value.
