    Private messages

I received an automated email from the TDB this morning that said someone is trying to contact me via PM but my box is full.

I would much prefer being contacted by email (click the "send email" link rather than the "send PM "link). PMs have very limited functionality such as very minimal storage capacity and inability to add attachments. In short, the function sucks!

Email allows us to archive all important and significant communications and include attachments, if needed, with responses.

So my PM box will remain full, and I think it's best for all of us to exclusively use the email function to communicate. A high function single file/database is much easier to deal with than multiples of such with low functionality.

One can shut off the PM option in your preferences (I did). I don't know what kind of message the sender gets when they try to send a PM, but you won't be bothered by the NCRS nannies telling you your box is full.

Now that said, don't ask me how to shut off the PMs. I did it back when the board was the black background. I can't figure out much with the new and improved format.

FYI, if the recipient does not use PMs, then the sender doesn't even see it as an option.

Duke, you can actually download and save all your PM's, and you can upload some things to them as well.
However, if you prefer e-mail then that's your choice - and I can understand why.

Thanks, Patrick. I disabled the PM function, but email is on!

                Heck, billing it is easy.
The problem is that the gov't keeps changing the rules! And yes, I'm serious!
Even CMS doesn't know how to interpret it or do it right for 2012!

I'd throw in some other political related comments here but it would probably get deleted.

You could use the phone but wait no that won't work making/receiving calls is the one thing that the new cell phons don't do well. They make a hell of a mini computer but can' seem to make calls work so maybe that is why everyone types not talk anymore.

                    Re: Private messages

When I get an email query from a member that can be easily be answered by email, I do so.

If it requires an interactive discussion for me to get all the facts and issues straight I reply: give me a call and provide my phone number.

Email is a wonderful tool that I've been using for 25 years. It's great because it doesn't interrupt you like the phone, and simple matters are easy to respond to at my convenience.

But sometimes, especially for more complicated issues, a phone conversation is much more efficient.

                      Duke;

I still have your phone number and look forward to taking you up on your gracious invite to call. I've hesitated to call as we do have a 4 hour difference in our time zones, and I'm an early to bed senior.

I'm still trying to sort out my 3461S AFB. Just a couple more items to try, but I don't expect too much and may religate the thing to "Trophy Status" on my parts shelf. I have 40 pages of notes to along with it. I've done your 100 RPM step test and it seems fine, but on the road it still has a lope in every gear. POT and WOT; however, are great! Guess it's my retirement project. If I solve it, I'll have to back to watching TV reruns.

It's only three hours, and by the time you are thinking about going to bed, I'm just starting the cocktail hour... or two... or... whatever, depending on how many classic rock CDs I want to listen too. (I've just rediscovered The Cars.) I don't watch TV except for some college sports and a little auto racing.

You're welcome to call any reasonable hour my time, but it would probably be best in the afternoon or early evening, your time. I'm not a morning person.

                          Ken,
You are so right! It is very hard to navigate contacts and dial numbers.

just don't rediscover Savoy Brown, the neighbors won't like it.
