    C1 (1960) tire valve stem

The TIM & JG says the valve stems for my 60 are 1 1/2" long with the Dill 627 caps. Corvette Central lists their valve stems at 1 1/4" and ZIP doesn't show a size (I have emailed ZIP). Has anyone found correct length on any online site?

If I can find them at a tire store, is there any other difference, i.e. hole diameter in the wheel that I need to know?

    Thanks,

Corvette Centrel list #642119 as 1 1/2" stems and #642217 for the Dill 627 caps.

Jerry, where are you looking? If I look up the CC part #642119 on their website it says 1 1/4".....

OK, I looked in their catalog and it says they are 1 1/2". Guess I'll have a call Monday and check.

Unless something has changed in the last several months, the CC valve stems are too small in diameter for the 15" wheels. They have been selling these things for years. I went with a tire store stem. I don't remember if they were 1 1/2". Frankly, I didn't care. Never lost a point on the last five that I ran through the system.

I* took a package of the valve stems purchased from CC to Discount Tire and they told me that they would not fit my 15" rims. I have a package of 4 that I am getting ready to throw away. I will probably keep the Dill caps for future use.

I measured the valve stem hole on my wheels and they are .625. All of the 1 1/2" stems I've found online are .453. I suspect that the CC ones are for the .453 hole. I did find some 1 1/4" on line to fit .625 hole that should be at my local AutoZone. I guess I'll have to use the 1 1/4", but I don't know if they will protrude through the hub cap enough?

Thanks for calling this to our attention. These were incorrectly described online and we will make the correction. Valve stem should measure 1 1/2" without cap, 1 5/8" with dill cap screwed on.

Hey @Scott, but do the stems CC sells actually fit the 15" original rims?

Re: C1 (1960) tire valve stem

What I think I have discovered is that there are some standard valve stems, TR415 are 1 1/4" and fit the .625 (5/8") hole as in the C1 15" wheels. There is also the TR425 which is 2" length and fits the .625 hole.

The only 1 1/2" valve stems I have found are TR414 and they fit the smaller .453 wheel hole.

Our part #642119 valve stems are 1 1/2" long, and are for a 1/2" hole size. Original rims had 1/2" or 5/8" holes.

Thanks for the clarification. The C1 wheels, at least 58-60, have 5/8" hole. So far I have not found anyone who makes a 1 1/2" stem to fit the 5/8" hole

We haven't been able to find them either.
