Floyd,
I believe that assembly line tips had 2 slits. All service replacement tips that I have seen have 4. I tried to upload a photo of a pair of rechromed originals that I have but I couldn't get it to work. Maybe if someone could instruct me I can post a photo.

These are not even reproductions. They are some sort of aftermarket-type piece.

Believe it or not they look like NOS AMC Chrome Exhaust Tips.

In addition, most repos are Stainless Steel, originals are chromed mild steel. Check it with a magnet.

Do you know what the difference is in the 68 and 69 tips? The service # is the same but the AIMs show differnent #'s. I have heard the is a difference in the contour where the pipe narrows.

I doubt you can tell much from this picture but this is what is on my 10-4-68 build date 69.
