    1960 fuel tank Painted

My fuel tank is black, well most of it, are these painted I would think they are not. The car has a black interior and it is very similar to that paint, not blackout.
The tank for all appearances has not been removed.

    Phil -

On C1's, the gas tank (and vent line and filler neck hose) was installed in the Body Shop, and the access cover panel was also installed there, normally secured with two screws to keep it from moving around; it's possible that the cover panel on yours didn't get those two screws, and it moved around enough that the tank got some overspray from the black interior painting.

      Thanks John,
This appears to be more than that, was there some sort of mask placed on the car when the interior was painted. I assume (this will get me in trouble) that the interior was painted after the car. It appears that the tank panel was removed then the interior painted, there is substantial paint on the tank and it is sprayed from the front to the rear of the car. There is no overspray on the bottom of the cover, and am sure it is original still has sequence number on it and it did not get painted when the car was repainted some 20+ years ago. Also to add a question the car is a hardtop only and there is adhesive residue from a soft top protector on the tank cover and the area to the rear. Some say this is possible.
