You do everything by sound and feel. The riveter puts the rivet in the hole the bucker puts the bar on the rivet. When the riveter fells the pressure of the bucking bar the riveter gives a short burst on the gun. If the rivet is bucked to the correct size he taps on the rivet once, if it needs to be shot some more he taps twice and they go to the next rivet. Two people that work well together can shoot a lot of rivets in a day.
