    1972 Hood Release Question

I have a question that I hope someone can help me with as I've looked at the AIM and the diagram on the hood release is vague in the area I'm interested in. The hood release cable is connected to a pivoting hook. I think there should be a spring that moves the cable back into position after the handle inside the car is pulled and released. I can see a symbol in the AIM that looks like a spring but the entire assembly is listed as a bracket. Am I correct that there should be a spring and if so would anyone know of a part number and a source. I've looked at at several catlogs but none has the diagram of this area.

    Thanks,

    Glen

Not to throw you off but original Hood release assembly has the steel cable shaft where the wire comes out and the wire is solid. Not like the current GM black plastic cable replacements and the inside cable is twined wire.
      Food for thought.

          Hi Grant,

I think I recall that the wire was solid but I'll check when I get the car out next. I appreciate the information.
