I have a 58 deck lid that has the holes for a hard top but I don't have a hard top for the car. I will be glassing in the holes but my question is: Was the center rear hole in the underside frame in place whether or not the holes were in the top side? This hole I am referring to was thru the deck lid frame to gain access to the hole in the top side. Thanks for any help.

Re: 58 deck lid-have hole in frame even without hard top?
This is my opinion, my car is a hardtop only car (1960) the hole looks like it was there when the car was painted that would mean that they either knew it would be a hardtop only or the hole is there when the deck lid was built. I think they were probably built that way so the hole was there even it was not used, ie softtop only car. The hole does not look to be drilled after the car was painted.- Top

Re: 58 deck lid-have hole in frame even without hard top?
all of my early deck lids have the hole in the center framework regardless of what top configuration they have, make sure you feather the repair back to at least the size of a beer can [ bud light works well ] so the repair doesn't show up when everything shrinks up later,- Top
