    carb metering block removal

What is the best way to loosen metering blocks from the main body of the carb? What should I use to soak it in that will not remove the finish to the main body or the metering blocks?

might help if you were to clarify just which version of the metering block you are referring to. If it is a Holley with the metering block that is held on by the float bowl, a sharp rap on the side of the block with a soft faced hammer should do the trick If it is a secondary block held on with the funny-looking screws, remove the screws and peel the gasket, the block should come with the gasket that is under it.

Sorry, it is a 2818 holley so the prim and sec blocks are held on by the float bowls. I have tried a light tap with a rubber hammer after soaking with WD40 and tried a small flat blade screw driver around the side but neither of them want to budge. The carb has been sitting in a dry storage shelf for 30 years and all the other parts came of fairly easy.

Thanks for the tip on this cleaner. One can of this and several hours of work later and all the parts look like new, ready to rebuild.
