73 Add on pulley for power steering

    Hi
Need info or part number for a add on pulley for a 73 no a/c coupe with 3858533BJ hp crank pulley. The standard crank add on pulley does not work. CC list a add on pulley for the HP crank pulley but they are out of them with no delivery date. Ed

There were only two pullies ever used for 1973 Corvette small blocks. Most applications with C-60 used a stamped steel "pancake" pulley of GM #3770509. Most other applications used a cast iron pulley of one groove and of GM #3834720. If you've tried one of these and it does not work for belt alignment reasons, then you need the other one. If neither one works due to incompatibility with the power steering pump shaft, then you have an incorrect 1975-82 pump configuration.

I guess the reason I responded as I did is because I don't think your application used an add-on crankshaft pulley. In fact, with the 3858533 crank pulley I don't think there is an add-on pulley that is compatible with it. I think your application uses the 3834720 cast iron, "drop down" power steering pump pulley with no add-on crankshaft pulley. However, please provide some information that's needed here. First, is the engine an L-48 or L-82? Second, which power steering pump pulley do you have? Third, are you sure that the crank pulley is a 3858533 and sure that pulley is original to the car?

I see what you are talking about now. 73 L48 4 speed with stamped p/s pulley. I believe correct pump but maybe not pulley. Yes crank pulley is 3858533BJ but not sure original to car. But car only has 35,000 miles. Ed

I have confirmed that the GM #3751232 add-on crank pulley, the only one that could possibly have been used for any 1973 Corvette, is not compatible with a GM #3858533 crank pulley. The 3751232 could only be used with a GM #3850838 (which as far as I know was not used for any 1973 Corvette) or a GM #3911013 which was used for 1973 Corvettes with small block and C-60.

Your application should use the GM #3858533 crankshaft pulley and NO add-on pulley. The power steering pump pulley should be the cast iron, "drop-down" GM #3834720.
