72 big block trailing arm brake armor

I'm confused... The vendor that sold me replacement rear steel brake lines (trailing arm) was insistent that there was no armor for 1972 - period. A search of the posts seems to indicate that this was dependent upon the engine and presence of the requisite sway bar, but there also seems to be some missing historical documentation that would confirm this.

My car currently has a mixed armor configuration, indicating that some service had been done in the past on these steel lines.

Is the expert consensus now that a late (June) 1972 car with a 454 should have armor on the trailing arm steel brake lines?

    Thanks for any clarification.

From the research we have done so far any 1968 to 1972 corvette with a rear sway bar had the armor due the close proximity of the metal line and bar linkage. Most likely it continued till the 454 was no longer available in 1975. You have to remember we judge normal factory production.

      Thanks, Paul. Next question...

Is the trailing arm geometry the same for earlier years that did have the armor on the brake lines? In other words, could I buy correctly armored steel lines for an earlier year that would fit onto my '72?

      Thanks

        Randy,

Any 69-71 would work - probably any C3 to be honest, as long as they have the armor.
I usually see the armor as the "default" configuration from the vendors.
