Purchased two aftermarket rear bumper braces that mount in the lower well of the trunk. Each one has two slots to receive the two bolts from the rear bumper. The bracket doesn't align evenly with the holes in the panel through which the 2 bolts from the bumper are inserted. It's lopsided. Is this an issue with reproduction braces or am I missing something? Thanks.

Re: C1 Rear Bumper Braces 58 59 60
Richard,
I don't know about the reproductions, but........
I'm restoring a '59, and when I put the original rear bumper braces on, I had the same problem. On the left side, the inner hole wouldn't line up to the bumper bolt hole. After thinking and rechecking the AIM, it shows shims(as required) are used where the bumper attaches to the brace. I had forgotten about them and found in the bag of bumper hardware I removed. I needed 3 shims there to align the holes to the bolts.
I also had to readjust the rear bumper frame "L" brackets that attaches to the top rear of the frame for a better fit. You may need to do the same. There isn't much adjustment there but it may help.
